Students of the First Technical School in Kruševac are gaining valuable practical experience through the dual education program, implemented in cooperation with the “14. Oktobar” factory, a member of the renowned Czechoslovak Group (CSG). This model of education connects theoretical knowledge with real-world practice, significantly contributing to preparing young people for the labor market.
Three second-year students of the electrician program attend practical training twice a week in the company’s modern production facilities, equipped with CNC machines and traditional tools. In a controlled and safe environment, supported by experienced mentors, the students become familiar with key components, materials, and tools essential for the electrical trade. Through this type of training, they develop work habits, learn the principles of industrial systems, and acquire practical skills that complement their theoretical education.
In the modern transmission facility, students work under the supervision of an experienced electrician mentor with decades of expertise, which further enhances the quality of their professional training. According to professors and mentors, students show interest, responsibility, and quickly adopt practical knowledge.

“Our school was among the first in Serbia to join the dual education system. In cooperation with the ‘14. Oktobar’ factory, this school year we have, for the first time, students enrolled in this program, and the same model will continue next year,” emphasized Emilija Matić, professor of electrical engineering subjects. She added that in their third year, students will spend as many as three days a week in the factory, while the remaining two days will be dedicated to classes at school.

At the company, the students’ mentor is electrician Nebojša Milutinović, who has 37 years of work experience. He stresses that the students are motivated and eager to learn. “They may not have much prior knowledge, but with the curriculum we receive from the school, we teach them to recognize basic components, materials, and electrical elements, as well as the principles of machine operation and repair. Step by step, we are introducing them to the real world of work,” explains Milutinović.

One of the students, Jovan Jakovljević, highlights the importance of practical training. “It’s easier to learn when you have skilled masters by your side. They explain everything clearly. Workplace safety is the most important thing, and I try to follow all the advice from my mentors. I would like to continue working here after school, because I believe this trade is in demand,” says Jakovljević.
The “14. Oktobar” company is recognized as one of the leaders in producing high-quality metal parts for a wide range of industrial needs, from civil to military programs. Cooperation with the education system is an excellent example of a successful link between schools and industry, enabling students to prepare for future employment in real working conditions, while the company gains the opportunity to identify and develop talent according to its own needs.

The dual education model contributes to the development of the local community, strengthens the technical competencies of young people, and increases their chances of employment immediately after graduation. The First Technical School in Kruševac and the “14. Oktobar” company are jointly building a path toward a safer and more successful professional future for students.
