The history of the company “IMK 14. OKTOBAR” has its roots in Austrian and Hungarian investors who founded it in 1923. Initially specializing in the repair and production of wagons, the company focused its activities on the repair and maintenance of vehicles and freight train wagons in the early years of operation. Over time, the focus on high-quality production technology led to an expansion of the product range, including the production of steel, building materials, mass-produced metal products, and products for the military industry.
After World War II, the company was nationalized and rebuilt after war damage. The name “14. OKTOBAR” was given in memory of the day Kruševac was liberated from Nazi occupation in 1944, October 14th. Over the years, the company has produced construction machinery, equipment for mining, agriculture, and transportation, as well as machine parts.
During its most successful years, the company was one of the largest producers of heavy machinery in Yugoslavia, employing around 8,000 people.
In 2017, the company was acquired by “SCMG 14. oktobar” from Belgrade on behalf of the Czech company “Czechoslovak Group”. This step represents a new phase in the company’s history, as it strives to re-establish its position in the market and continue to innovate in the field of heavy industry.
